After enjoying about a week of no illnesses.....well Daddy had a cold, but the little man was feeling better. We had a blast taking walks outside and watching Owen explore the world. The weather was beautiful last week and on Saturday.
9 days ago we had noticed that Owen looked like he was getting some diaper rash, so we got out the "Butt Paste," which usually clears things up in just a day or so. However this "rash" looked a little different and so we talked with some of his nurses and we decided to treat it for a fungal issue for a few days and see how it goes. Over the weekend the "rash" seemed to get worse and after talking with the 2 more times it wasn't anything emergent because he was in such a good mood and didn't seemed bothered by it at all, so if it didn't go away by Monday we should bring him in.
Monday comes and so I take my little blotchy boy to the doctor and he took one look at it and said, "Well it sure looks like Chicken Pox"......I was sure shocked....the bumps never got worse in any area, but they spread away from his midsection which I guess is classic Chicken Pox.....he also noticed his ear was very red and looked infected....really? This happy, cheesey, fun little boy has all this going on and has been so pleasant. Apparently when children have been vaccinated for Chicken pox they don't have as many symptoms as unvaccintaed children. He also said that the virus that appears towards the end of winter/beginning of Spring is a very strong virus and historically has made children very sick. Also since his spots showed up 9 days ago, we are at the end of the contagious point. Yeah!
Well, Owen continues to be his happy self. I'll have to upload some pictures of his pox.
