Let's Go Fly a Kite!

My grandpa Herring is a kid at heart.  In any type of gathering you can find children (and animals) following him around.  He always has games or projects for kids (and big kids) to do.  Owen has taken notice of this and when he comes out to my parents house, Owen runs up to his car to see what he has.

A few weeks ago, Grandpa brought his kite, we tried a few times to fly kites over the summer, but it was just too hot.  We had a perfect fall day to fly a kite and head out for a hike.  Owen was quite strong and held onto the kite for a long time, we were all surprised he didn't let it go.  He is a pretty determined kid.

Thanks Great-Grandpa "Woodshed" for playing with us.

Learning the ropes from great grandpa

The kite ran out of string....it flew really high

Hold on tight Owen

Love this picture!  Owen and Grandpa Smith on a hike.  Owen likes to pick of sticks and make "scrapes" that ones deer make

Great Grandpa came along for a hike

Colin typically falls asleep in the bjorn, kelty (which he is a little short for yet), or in his stroller for our evening walk.....not sure what we are going to replace that with this winter?

A little piggy back ride up the hill from Daddy

I wish fall lasted all year....it is by far my favorite time of year, I think my boys are enjoying it too!

Ferguson's

On to some October fun!

Colin made his first fall trip to Ferguson's orchard and pumpkin patch.  I think he enjoyed himself, despite it being FREEZING! Owen was an old pro checking out all his favorites.

Owen ran up to the big apple and wanted to take a bite.....we thought he was kidding, but her really did try and take a bite.  He was a little sad that the apple wasn't real.

Owen is getting bigger!

Owen LOVES the peddle tractors

Moooooo!

Owen loves checking out animals

And we love that Owen can climb in the big tractors, we also took a wagon ride threw the orchard, but I didn't get any pictures

Daddy and his littlest boy.....what cuties!

I get to squeeze both my boys

Silly Owen.....Colin just can't get over chewing on his hand....first time in mittens

Colin snuggling into his big brother....so sweet!

Cutie pie!

A trip to an orchard isn't complete without a tasty caramel apple....surprisingly this wasn't as messy as I thought it was going to be

yummy!

Happy Fall, I hope you are all enjoying all that Fall has to offer

Football

We have had a lot of Mellow Sunday fundays full of fun in September...(yup still updating September stuff)

This is actually a Monday Night Football Party with Buppa And Punkin Smith

Owen learned how to dip a chip

Colin has spent September learning how to sit by himself, he is such a BIG boy, I can't believe it!

Loves playing with his toys....I have a feeling this little boy is going to be into everything in a few months

Kisses from punkin

At half time we like to run outside and play....sometimes when the Packer's aren't playing so great we run outside to play too ;-)

Daddy is being very kind and allowing Mommy to dress the boys in Packers gear for Mommy's sake.  I sure think they look cute in their Packer gear.

Parade time

The boys were lucky enough to attend both the Applefest and Oktoberfest parades.  Fall in the coulee region sure is a wonderful time!  Both boys liked the parades. I think Owen collected enough candy for a whole class of kids.  We are still using his "treats" as rewards for eating well and good behavior.

I can't tell what Owen's favorite part of the parades were because he was pretty much in "hoarding" mode which included anything from candy and pencils to pamphlets and election stickers.  He has shown us what a determined little boy he is once he puts his mind on it.

The crew all set up and ready to go
Happy Applefest!

There's that big smile I love!  Colin loves a good parade

Owen no longer has time for pictures for Mommy....he is all business when it comes to parades....Colin really isn't sure why Owen is upset.

Break for a little snack.

Sweet Colin
Colin is taking the parade all in

Since the Oktoberfest parade is quite crowded, Colin spent most of his time in the baby bjorn

It isn't Oktoberfest without the horn

Owen's "Don't take my picture"  face.....this is starting to become a habit

Sorting all his loot

Woodshed enjoying an Oktoberfest beverage

There's sleepy Colin, I still can't believe how babies can sleep with all this noise, but when you walk down the hallway and the floor squeaks they are up!

curious and serious at the same time

Owen trying the horn

We had a wonderful Applefest and Oktoberfest this year!
